CBiT and ERP Training Course

We are very pleased to be launching a new course for psychologists to be trained in Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics (CBIT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

This course is designed for psychologists seeking to deepen their clinical skills in evidence-based, psychological interventions for children and adults with tic conditions.

Course Highlights:

  • Background to tic disorders and comorbidities

  • Assessing tic disorders

  • Evidence for behavioural therapy

  • CBiT (including HRT)

  • ERP

  • Integrating new theories and techniques

  • Challenges and therapeutic considerations

The course will be delivered by Dr Amanda Maxwell and Ivan Mathieson, accredited practitioners with decades of experience working with tic disorders.

Who Should Attend:
AHPRA registered Provisional Psychologists or Registered Psychologists

Duration: 2 days (Intensive Course)

Format: In-Person at UNSW. Three 30 minute supervision sessions must also be completed within 12 months*.

Certification: Certificate of Completion

Cost: The course is currently being offered through an NHRMC funded training program.

Course Leaders

Meet our course leaders — experienced clinical psychologists and accredited CBiT practitioners with decades of combined experience supporting individuals with tic disorders. They bring both clinical expertise and a compassionate, evidence-based approach to every aspect of the course.

  • Clinical Psychologist

    Amanda is an accredited practitioner of CBiT, with a particular clinical interest in working with young people diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, primary motor stereotypies, and functional (psychogenic) movement disorders.

    She has been involved in developing and delivering research programs focused on both individualised and group-based behavioral interventions for tic disorders and primary motor stereotypies.

  • Clinical Psychologist

    Ivan is an accredited practitioner of CBiT and has nearly a decade of experience working with individuals with tic disorders, having supported hundreds of clients.

    He has worked extensively across youth outpatient and inpatient mental health services, as well as within both public and private school settings.

Expression of Interest

To attend our next training course, please complete an Expression of Interest form. Please include your qualifications and experience working with individuals with tic conditions so that we can ensure each course is tailored to the learning needs of attendees.

At this stage, the course is only being offered in person at UNSW. Attendees will be responsible for organising their own accommodation.
